AVM conducts regular
activities for helping children who are socially and/or
economically disadvantaged. These children are dwelling
with their parents in the hutments/slums of Thaltej village. A
weekly class is conducted for these children at
Tattvatirtha. Children between 5 and 12 years of age
participate in the class. They are told stories from
Puranas, taught prayers and chanting, given lessons in
values, including personal hygiene, importance of
education, respect for parents and elders and civic
sense. These children also present a cultural programme
of dance and drama during the anniversary celebration.
AVM also provides free
classes for the hutment dwelling school going children,
to help them with their studies and cut down on the drop
out rate. AVM also provides help in the form of tuition
fees, books, music classes etc. Children also enjoy
picnics and feasts at Tattvatirtha several times a year.
